Ok, so the next great thing in camera straps are here! At least, that's what I've been told. Seriously, they look pretty cool. If you carry more than one digital camera at once, the new Black Rapid DR-1 Double Strap is THE ticket for you. It allows you to carry the bodies handsfree. If you have long lenses, you can connect them by the tripod collars and hang them by your sides. For just one camera body, the RS-4 will still keep your hands and neck free, holds two extra flash memory cards, and allows you to carry all the extra digital camera accessories your hands and shoulders can carry! Come in and check them out today!

We finally go 'em in stock and it really is a cool camera! The new Sony Cybershot camera DSC-HX1 arrived the other day and it has some very cool features that most of the competition just doesn't offer.
The HX1 sports a 20x optical zoom that starts out at 28mm (equiv. 135). It has a panorama mode that takes all the work out of the process called Sweep Panorama. This 9.1 MP monster has a 3" titling LCD screen that is very bright and sharp for shooting as an HD camcorder. That's right! It shoots in full 1080p, 1440x1080/30P! This really is an all-in-one. Long zoom, great stills, great video!

Attention, Attention!!!! We have received a VERY limited amount of the extremely popular Panasonic LX-3 cameras. This is THE Panasonic digital camera that everyone is all hot and bothered about. We have turned away a lot of customers the past couple of months because we had trouble getting any from Panasonic. If you still want one of them, act quickly! Call us today before it is too late!

School is out for some and will be for almost everyone soon. Now comes the time of vacations, summer jobs, camping or leisure. Now is the time of the year for Nikon Digital Camera sales in Indianapolis!
I am a big fan of the new Nilon S230 point and shoot digital camera. With five colors: Jet Black, Cool Blue, Plum, Warm Silver and Gloss Red you could have a Nikon Digital camera for any mood. But I'm not here to talk about color, I'm here to tell you about what this digital camera can do better than any of others that I've tried (and I've tried a lot of digital cameras out Indianapolis!). Heck, even Nikon has had a couple of other touch panel models themselves, but this camera is what I like to call a hybrid. No it won't get you better milage on your way to Key West, it might get you better pictures quicker.
I call it a hybrid because it still has some physical buttons on it as well as virtual touch panel controls. The two buttons on the back of the camera are "camera/video/scene" on top, and "playback" on the bottom. There is also a physical toggle zoom control under the shutter button on top. Having just these three controls makes this the fastest, easiest touch panel The physical zoom button instead of a virtual one speeds the procees of framing your shots immensely. Pressing the 'camera' button brings up a set of options: Auto Mode, Scene Mode, Smile Mode and Movie. Tapping one of these icons on the panel then brings up that settings mode or scene options in the case of the scene mode. Other options are right on the screen if you want them by touching DISP (display) to show or hide them.
Pressing the play button ionce brings up your shots, pressing twice shows options to edit, copy or modify them or options to view by dates or just show your saved favorites. Fun, fast, easy sure sounds like summer to me.
Want to hear the even better news? This week Roberts Distributors sin Indianapolis and Carmel are running Nikon's Dads and Grads sale, and these honeys are $30.00 off their regular price. The fastes easiest Nikon Digital Touch Panel Camera is now (for a limited time) under $200. Add one of our Kingston or Sandisk flash memory SD or SDHC memory cards and you are ready to touch your way to albums full of awesome summer images!
The new Sony digital camera models are now in stock. The Sony A330 and A230 are now available for purchase. The Sony A380 will be coming in soon.
There are some major overhauls to the new models. They all shoot to both SD memory cards and to Sony Memory Sticks. They all have mini HDMI video outputs that can support HD playback of images in 1080i. They are all substantially smaller models because of the smaller card slots. Overall, the layout of the controls are much more refined and easier to use. The LCD monitors give speed and aperture setting info in very easy to understand graphics. They also seem to focus a bit faster than their predecessors with the new Sony lenses that ship with the camera kits.
As with the previous models, Sony has the live view figured out like no other manufacturer at this point. The nine point auto focus system is prominently displayed so you can easily see the focus lock in live view. They loose very little speed when in live view mode.
Some nice improvements to an already impressive lineup!

HD camcorders are getting smaller and smaller but the quality keeps getting better and better. The new Sony HDR-CX100 is one of those new high end, high def camcorders. It is really small, palm sized. It comes equipped with 8GB of embedded memory and lets you record up to 3 hours on the internal memory. You can add more memory easily with Sony Memory Stick Duo flash memory cards. High resolution photos are an easy thing too, with 4 megapixel still image capture. The 2.7 inch wide angle screen is high res too and easy to see. Small, affordable, sharp.

If you are looking for a camera that is very rugged and can take pictures in the water, the Olympus digital camera linup is very impressive. If you buy an Olympus Stylus Tough 6000 or 8000 from us, we will include 4 Kingston 512MB micro SD cards with the purchase. The tough 8000 can go down to 30 feet, has 12MP and has a wide angle 3.6x zoom. The perfect all-weather summertime point and shoot camera!

Race time in Indiana is upon us. May is here. Need some binoculars for the track? We've got 'em!
The Nikon Action Zoom 7-15 x 35 binocs are on a closeout. They are selling for $49.97 and considering that they were $99.97 last week, I would consider that a great deal. The Nikon lenses are very sharp in these binoculars, and the zoom can really come in handy!
Come and get them fast! Supplies are limited!
The Canon rebates make a great buy! Yes, the lens rebates are in effect which is a great thing, but if you are looking at a Canon Digital SLR camera, now is the time to buy one. If you buy the Rebel XSi kit with the 18-55 IS and the 55-250 IS lens at the same time, you get $200 off at the register. Before the rebate the prices are $649.97 for the Canon Rebel XSi kit and $255 for the 55-250 IS lens. No mail in rebates. No hassle. 12.1 MP, 3.0 " LCD, live view, and both Canon Lenses have image stabilizer in them. Not sure how to shoot and SLR camera? Don't be intimidated. We have classes available on the Canon, and many other cameras that we sell.
So, not sure what marketing guru decided your average mom (please, don't misunderstand me, I know there are quite a few of you mothers who are photographers, this isn't about you but rather odd marketing choices) wants a Tamron
18-270mm for Mother's Day (my mom would personally and resoundly smack me if I got her a 15x ultra zoom for Mother's Day). Whoever it was, though, and misguided as the decision seems, it's a boon to every photographer, mother or not, because the aforemention
15x zoom is currently $50 less. Through next Tuesday, I think. Odd day to end a promo, that.
Anyway, we have it in stock, in flavors for Nikon lenses and Canon lenses. And, it's something I've talked about the usefulness of before. It's really win-win here, people.
We have a special Sony digital camera kit available for Mother's Day. And it's pink, for the ladies. It is the Sony DSC-S980 pink kit with a very cool pink carry case and pink camera body. It also comes with a 2GB memory stick MSMT2G. 12.1MP sensor, 2.7" LCD screen, 4x optical zoom. Pretty cool little pakage that Mom will love. Don't forget about Mom!

So, I have to admit, I'm sad the race for ISO expansion has so far only gone up. Sure, now my camera can see better in the dark than I can, but it's only solution for the day is faster shutter speeds. Like, the best of the Olympus digital cameras (which is, of course, were my expertise lies) go up to 1/8000 second shutter, which is very groovy. Especially for stopping time. I think you can freeze a bullet at that shutter.
Where this sucks is: what if I don't want to freeze time? What if it's dead noon and I want to shoot a fountain and have it come out as the smooth, sensuous blurs of motion and not the dizzying, distracting matrix of time-frozen droplets?
If I had ISO 50, or ISO 25, this would be easier. Turn the gain down on the sensor and it needs to have more light hit it for a proper exposure. That also increases shutter time, which would give me flowing water. It all makes so much sense!
Until such time as I get expanded ISOs down in the double digits and not quadruple and quintuple digits, it's a good thing people still make neutral density filters. Me, I'm looking at a good, wholesome ND8 (for a full three more stops slower on the exposure end).
Contractually, I now have to say "Olympus lens filter Indianapolis", which is a bit awkward, but if you do happen to need a filter for an Olympus lens whilst in Indiapolis, it couldn't be truer.
The bi-annual Canon Day at Roberts is coming around again. The big Canon digital camera sale is here! It will be Saturday, May 9th from 10-3. Canon factory reps will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. But you don't have to wait to get the good deals on Canon lenses and cameras. The deals are in affect now through Saturday May 9th. Big instant rebates are now available for Canon lenses. The new Canon point and shoot cameras have big savings as well. And you won't have to mail in any rebates! Come and get the good deals.
So, I got this from our rep a couple days back, and we feel this is the best way to share it with you, dear readers.
“So.......below is a photo of how I use the Flipside 300 to hold my Canon 500 f4 lens... plus the Wimberley Sidekick, which many shooters use with the 500 to control the lens nicer on the tripod. To be able to put both in one small bag is a dream!! You have no idea how excited about this I am!! I have shown it to so many people.
"It all fits in the pack perfectly...and you should put a photo of the 500 in the Flipside (300) for one of your alternate views on the site. This is huge!! No one makes a good bag or small backpack for the 500...and it probably fits many other big lenses too from Canon and Nikon. Don’t overlook this... It is huge in my opinion.”
“The CompuTrekker is my favorite pack ever made...and I love it to death. I have sold countless bags for you from showing it in all of my photography classes… I show them how much gear it can handle...and how well it contours to the back....and then let them know it fits a laptop with ease. This is key because I do so many photo presentations when I am leading photo tours.......and I need my laptop so often. It really is the most versatile pack made in the world and no one in my opinion, has anything close."Our Lowepro rep sent us this from an "anonymous Canon tech rep." (Lowepro of course making those imperative digital camera accessories, the camera bags, and making them well. I used a
Rezo 160AW for quite some time before giving it to my dad). We'll accept some healthy skepticism towards the authenticity of the testimony, but we have to admit, the picture included is good, because apparently the 500mm monster of Canon lenses does actually fit in the
Flipside 300 quite cozy. Really. See the picture below.

Need a Nikon digital SLR camera with HD video and a tilty, flippy LCD screen? Need a camera with a legendary sensor, advanced 3D Matrix AF, and advanced matrix metering? Need a camera with a bold red triangle inspired by designs from the same man who gave the Volkswagon Golf it's red stripe around the grill? Need an 18-55mm VR lens with a built-in AF motor to work with the AF-S only drive system of this beastly new camera?
Well, golly be, we have them in stock. Order away to your hearts content, just click ze image above!
If you have ever read a Roberts Blog, you know that we have a few Olympus Camera devotees here. I have both types of Olympus Digital Cameras myself, one of the Stylus 1030SW shock and waterproof models and one of the DSLR Digital Camera kits as well. My Olympus DSLR is the E-520 and I have several camera accessories as well (macro lens, 40-150 zoom and 75-300 zoom as well as the wireless remote capable F-36'R' Flash).
If you thinking about buying a new Olympus Digital SLR camera May is the month to do so. Starting Friday May 1st and continuing all month Olympus is offering $100 to $200 instant savings on Olympus bodies and kits starting with the E-520 models all the way up to the Professional E-3 flagship model.
If you have read many Digital camera reviews you already know that Olympus has incorporated many ground-breaking features in their recent model lines. Again if you just search our store blogs for Olympus you will see many of the innovations I mentioned. With the opportunity to take an additional $100 or even $200 off this could be the extra motivation you need to get a spiffy new Olympus Digital SLR like mine or even better a E-3 like Derek's.
Sony has lost their mind. The Sony digital camera SLR A350 is at an amazing price, bundled with the vertical grip, 18-70 lens, and 55-200 lens all for only $799.99! This same kit would have been well beyond the $1000 price tag just a month ago. Great value. 12 MP, live view mode that actually works with you and not against you! Add a Kingston 32GB compact flash card into the mix for $63 and you can shoot raw data files for days without running out of room. Come on in! They won't last long!

So, because we just had a call about this, I thought I'd throw it out here that in the world of Nikon digital SLR cameras, the D700 is seriously not all so different from the flagship D3. You got the same sensor, same AF, same lens compatability, same auto-cropping viewfinder when used with DX lenses. The changes?
- No integrated grip. Though, there is an available one (same as the D300, for convenience).
- Different continuous shooting rate (again, a la D300, and improved with the D3's battery in the available grip).
- Built-in popup flash. This is here more as a wireless flash master than as a flash, before you all start ragging on the poor popup flash. Line of site remote TTL with Nikon flashes = awesome.
And... well, really, that's mostly it. It's been a while since I got to handle one, but it might only have 1 CF card slot. But, image-wise, you're not looking at a heck of a difference.
I wanted to mention that the new Lite Panels MicroPro is now in stock. I put it up against the standard Micro and there is a huge difference. Anyone already familiar with the Micro will be impressed. Of all digital camera accessories, having a lot of light is very important. If you need a lot of light for your HD camcorder or for your digital SLR, I would strongly recommend this little powerhouse!

So, walk into our store or load our site and you'll see we have Zuiko Digitals like the
9-18, the newest Olympus wide angle lens, in stock and ready to become yours. But, in these times we can't afford to keep every Olympus lens (such as the much vaunted portrait telephoto the 35-100mm f2) in stock.
Lucky for you I'm going to spend the afternoon getting these less popular camera lenses on our site and available for special order. Not in stock? No problem, send us an "Out of Stock Request", we'll check availability from Oly, then get back to you and we'll get your order handled.
Look for more special orders from many more companies as this year goes on. Just one more way we're working to give you more photo equipment than you thought possible.
