It is always sad when we lose a friend long before their time should come. But in the case of Glenn Goodrich it is especially sad because he was such a pleasure to know and work with. Our sincere condolences from everyone at Roberts goes out to Glenn’s family and his work family at Ikelite. http://www.indystar.com/article/20110815/LOCAL18/108150325/Glenn-Goodrich-spent-his-life-protecting-people

Nikon D3X
The rumours were getting hot and heavy, but this isn’t what I call a rumour. Nikon has made the official announcement of the Nikon D3X.
It boasts FX-format and a 24.5-megapixel (6048 x 4032) CMOS sensor.
No word on new Nikon lenses though.
We are maintaining a list for this new Nikon digital camera. Email us at info@robertsimaging.com with D3X in the subject and your contact info in the body.
Canon 5D Mark II
Yes, the rumours are correct. The new Canon Digital SLR camera, the EOS 5D Mk II, has begun shipping to dealers. Here at Roberts we are going to move through our list as best we can. Please be patient in that quantities are small and demand is high. Keep in mind that there is also a rebate program on Canon lenses and two other Canon digital slr cameras. Roberts also stocks the complete line of Canon digital camera accessories.
People Take Photos
The battle is always being raged: are the Canon flashes better than the Nikon flashes, is Ilford wide format paper better than Epson wide format paper, is one digital SLR superior to another. So much time is spent on the tools that I think sometimes we forget that people take pictures not cameras.
I am fortunate enough to be acquainted with a group of photographers that understand the it is the image and how it moves the soul that really matters. Some of them shoot Canon, some Nikon, some use an Olympus digital camera, but what they all have in common is the image, an awesome image.
check out some of their work, enjoy…
Fuji S5
The boss and I get an email, at the same moment look at each other, and at the same time say, “wow did you see the email on the S5 price drop”, great minds think alike. In the world of digital SLRs there are few that do better on the colors of skin than the Fuji S5 and it takes all of the great Nikon lenses and Nikon flashes. It just might be the best way to enter the digital world if you have Nikkor glass, but have yet to purchase a Nikon Digital camera or just need to upgrade to a more professional camera. Wait for it….the new price on the Fuji S5 is $899.97.

Oh yeah, and here is that other great mind, Bruce, our fearless leader.
CPS announcement
From Canon lenses to Canon flashes to Canon digital SLR cameras, the pro is always in need of the best in support for their gear. Canon has announced newly revamped Canon Professional Services program that I believe every pro using Canon should review. Click here to read the press release for the new program.
I will try to track this as the new program details come to light and continue to post them on the blog.
I know that many shooters have been complaining about the new program, but if you read it carefully you will find that the $100 program (Gold Level), which is like the current program, comes with 2 $50 service coupons thus making it essentially no charge. This being the case, the new program actually is just a way to let some shooters pay for a new ultimate level of service which is the Platinum plan.
