Canon Announces Everything

So’s I walk in this morning to eager to stick a bunch of used gear into a light tent to keep fleshing out our Used presence online when I’m waylaid by the Grober. He says to me, he says, ”Canon announced everything today, I need you on the blog.”
Here I am, your faithful servant.
So what’s Canon releasing? A smorgasboard of L glass and an EOS 60D.
Let’s start with the Body:
EOS 60D

EOS 60D

It has an APS-C sized 18 megapixel CMOS sensor married to a Digic IV processor with ISO from 100 to 6400, which is expandable to 12800. The EOS 60D records full 1080 HD video, has LiveView, utilizes SDXC memory technology, and for the first time from Canon on an SLR (look to the SX20IS) a Vari-angle LCD which is 3.0″ -whether it’s measured diagonally or if it’s literally 3″:2″ I can’t tell from their spec page.

If the hypotenuse is 3 and the relationship of x to y is 3:2...

We’re supposed to start the thing up in 1/10th of a second, and while it shares a battery with the EOS 5D Mark II (the LP-E6) it’ll have it’s own battery grip -the BG-E9. The EOS 60D should also be churning out just over 5 frames a second. All around that’s pretty exciting.
The next post will cover their refresh of the 1.4X and 2X extenders, the 400 2.8 IS and the 300 2.8 IS.
