Last year, Canon baffled all of us by bringing out the SX10 and SX1 digital cameras, and only releasing the SX10 in the U.S.  Although the SX10 is a good camera, the SX1 offers a CMOS sensor, 1080p video recording, and RAW capture capability.  Canon is correcting their misstep by bringing the SX1 to the U.S. market.

This camera should be very impressive and offer a good option to HD camcorders.  Long zoom, hot shoe capability, and 1080p recording is a catagory that has long been needed in the compact bridge camera market.

Canon also announced the release of a lot of new point and shoot cameras that should be arriving in the coming months.  They include the new Canon Powershot D10 waterproof camera, SX200IS, SD960, SD970IS, and about four others.
