For those people looking for high quality video that is over 640×480, but don’t want to carry an HD camcorder around, look for the new Panasonic Digital Camera LX3.

The Canon Powershot Digital Cameras G7 and G9 both had 1024×768 video.  The big gripe on the new Canon Powershot G10 is the lack of 1024×768 video.  The new Panasonic jumped right past 1024 video and went right to 1280x720p at 24fps HD video.

It is beautiful.  Seeing HD video shot at 24mm focal lengths is very impressive.  Especially with a Leica lens that gets the color exactly right.  This is the answer for folks wanting a high end point and shoot with video capability, and not necessarily wanting to lug around an HD camcorder.
