Well I just un-boxed and sampled three new Canon Powershot Cameras. The first one out of the box ‘so to speak’ was the new Powershot A1000 IS which comes in 4 two-tone color schemes; Gray, Blue, Brown and Purple. At 10.0 megapixels, with a 4x optical zoom and image stabilazer plus a 2.5 inch screen this camera is sure to be a crowd pleaser, and at only $199.97 it is sure to be a winner.
Pictured above, the second new offering I got to sample this morning is the A1000′s big brother the Powershot A2000 IS with the same 10.0 megapixel resolution, but a longer 6x optical zoom and a larger 3″ LCD screen. The extra reach and viewing capabilities only add $50.00 more to the sticker making this another value at $249.97. The A2000 only comes in 2 tone-gray.
Finally the third Canon Digital Powershot Camera to grace our display cases today is the SX110 IS, thiner than it’s predecesor SX100 IS, and higher resolution at 9.0 megapixel this camera will give you the reach for youth sports, wildlife or anything that is too far away to frame the way you want. The tag for the SX110 IS is only $279.97, well below the average for long zoom lens shutter cameras.
As you would expect with Canon lenses the image quality is terrific. All three will accept the newer SD/HC memory cards for improved speed and better movie playback, incorporate motion dectection technologies, and utilize the Digic III processor which also adorns the big gun Canon digital DSLR Cameras.
All three models use SD memory cards, AA or rechargable NiMH AA batteries, have standard camera tripod mounts and hand straps.
If you are looking for a travel sized digital camera with a longer than the mainstream 3x zoom lens you should take these new models for a test drive.
